jars on shelfOpen the door of your pantry and take a look. Do you see a jumble of cans, half-finished bags of stale snacks and expired spices you forgot you bought? Keeping your kitchen cabinets in order not only makes it easier to find what you need, but it can help you save money by helping to avoid purchasing items you already have. But most homeowners don’t have a system when it comes to organizing their shelves. Use these simple tips to keep your pantry neat and tidy.

Tips for Organizing Your Kitchen Pantry

  • Use clear containers. Food comes in dozens of different-sized packages. Sometimes, arranging them in your pantry is like playing Tetris, and it is difficult to see how much of each item you have left. Instead, remove food from its package and put it into stackable see-through containers. Not only will you be able to increase your storage, but you will also be able to quickly determine when it is time to add something to your shopping list.
  • Don’t forget the directions. Using separate containers is excellent, but getting rid of old packaging means losing the instructions. Always cut out the directions from the package and tape them to the top of the container, so you will still know how to prepare the food.
  • Remember first-in, first-out. When you buy a new package of something you already have in your pantry, don’t add it to the container you already have. Put the fresh food in its own container and place it behind the older one. Make sure to label the item and include its expiration date, so you will never throw out perfectly safe food ever again.
  • Install a shelf for small containers on the pantry door. It is easy for small bottles of spices or packets of soup mix to disappear in your pantry. Adding a shelf to the inside of your pantry door keeps all of these small items within easy reach and out of the dark corners. If you don’t want the hassle of installing shelves, consider wire baskets from the top of the door.

In addition to organizing your kitchen, finding great apartments in North Dallas also doesn’t need to be a struggle. Gramercy on Park provides easy access to downtown Dallas while offering sought-after amenities. Call 866-350-7648 to arrange a showing of available units.

PhotosThey're everywhere — on the fridge, on the walls and in files and piles — but your photographs need to be organized to be truly enjoyed. Dallas apartments have plenty of storage space and display opportunities, so deciding which images you love most and how you want to display them is an easy, but necessary task. When you store your photos properly, they will last a lifetime. Store them the wrong way and they could fade, peel or warp over time.

Organize and Display Photos at Home

While you can usually discard images that didn't work — the ones with closed eyes, redeye or other issues — before you even print them, some do slip by. The best way to organize your collection is to begin by getting rid of images you don't really need. This will allow you to display the things you truly love and free up storage space for more pieces.

  • Discard any photos that didn't turn out, are of people you don't know or like or that were photobombed or otherwise damaged. If a photo is sentimental, but still not good, keep it, but otherwise discard ones you'll never display or enjoy.
  • Store photos that you want to keep but are not going to display right now. Acid-free boxes specifically designed for paper and photos are not expensive and can protect your photos from sunlight and damage; they also stack easily and keep everything together.
  • Display photos you enjoy and want to see daily on your walls, on mirrors, in frames, and in albums. Take care to keep photos out of direct sunlight — your Dallas apartment may get amazing light, but all that sun is not good for your pictures!

Rotate photos regularly so you can enjoy them and add any new ones to your collection as you take them. Organizing and displaying your photos allows you to see the ones you truly love every day and ensures nothing gets lost or damaged. Need somewhere to show off your art and photo collection? Our Dallas apartments are designed with style in mind and make it easy to showcase your most cherished items with ease. Stop by and check us out today and see all that we have to offer!

Gramercy on the Park Living RoomPiles of clutter have a funny way of sneaking up on you and decimating the clean, calm ambience in your apartment in Dallas. You can tackle the clutter with key organizational techniques that promise to restore your apartment home’s tidy atmosphere. Here are 5 awesome organization tips to use in your apartment home.

Utilize Vertical Space

When most furniture ends halfway up the wall, there is a critical underuse of vertical space going on. Build upon your focal pieces in each room to utilize vertical space for storage shelves, bins and other organizational elements.

Give Everything Its Own Place

When you assign everything in your apartment home to its own place, you can easily return those items there when you are done, keeping the place clutter-free. If you own something that never seems to have a spot in your home, consider discarding it or giving it away.

Practice Great Cord Management at Your Apartment in Dallas

The cords in your Dallas apartment can take up a lot of floor space and make everything look messy when out of control. You can practice great cord management to free up this space and make your apartment home look like it does not have an ounce of clutter.

Swap out Your Seasonal Items

When your seasonal items take up space, you may struggle to find room for the stuff you actually use at that time. Consider storing seasonal items in an out-of-the-way space to ensure your home stays tidy year round.

Always Use Storage Furniture

With storage furniture, you will never be without a place to put your belongings. Although storage ottomans are the norm, consider converting your bed into a storage space using the space lift top design.

When you utilize storage furniture, swap out seasonal items, and otherwise actively transform your living space, you can always keep clutter to a minimum. To learn about our available floor plans, call (866) 350-7648 to speak to our team at Gramercy on the Park Apartments.
