Halloween TreatsThinking about having a fun gathering on Halloween? It’s always great to get dressed up with your friends and have a good time. You want to do your best to make it an event to remember. That’s why we’re providing these ideas to community members of our Gramercy on the Park Apartments in Dallas. Use them as inspiration for putting together a great Halloween bash!

Bobbing for Fruit

Why limit yourself to apples when there are so many other fruits you can throw in? Go for items with interesting shapes and different sizes. It’s a great way to throw some variety into a classic Halloween game.

Alternative fruit ideas:

  • Bananas
  • Plums
  • Oranges
  • Peaches
  • Grapes

Assign points depending on the difficulty of grasping an item with your teeth. We recommend adding bonus points for anyone who has to bite down into an orange skin!

Mystery Serving Table

Place foods with unique textures under a covering, making it impossible to see what's underneath. Place signs on with fun names indicating the different contents they contain. Ask your guests to blindfold themselves before serving them items from different dishes.

Let only one guest at a time approach to stop others from ruining the surprise. Are they consuming eyeballs? Is it indeed entrails being placed on their tongue? Allow your guests the opportunity of discovering the true nature of the food for themselves!

Halloween Game Event

Pick out some different games and challenge your guests to compete and find a true champion at the end of the night. Don’t forget to create a nice skeleton trophy for the winner!

Halloween game ideas:

  • Pin the spider on the web
  • Eyeball egg race with a spoon in your teeth
  • Competition to create a mummy from toilet paper
  • Three-legged zombie race
  • Pumpkin bowling
  • Halloween Bingo
  • Marshmallow tossing
  • Skeleton hopscotch

Each of these ideas can be adapted to suit your floor plan. They’re also inexpensive to put together and sure to provide a lot of laughs for those watching.

We want our residents of Gramercy on the Park Apartments in Dallas, TX, to have a great time on Halloween or any other holiday. Call our offices at (866) 350-7648 if you’re interested in finding out more about our beautiful apartment community.

FootballFootball season is finally here. And to celebrate, many people are hosting football parties. If you plan on throwing one, here are a few tips to help makes yours a success.

Make Sure You Can Access the Game You Want to Watch

First and foremost, always make sure you can access the game you want to watch. Not every game is shown in every area, and some games may be blacked out locally if the game is not a sellout. The last thing you want is to invite friends over to watch the big game, only to find out you can't watch it in your apartment home. Do your research and find out what games will be shown.

Decorate With Fun Party Decorations

When hosting a football party, always decorate your place with fun party decorations. Party supply stores, grocery stores, and even dollar stores have fun and festive decorations, including football plates, football field tablecloths, and festive football-themed party trays.

Have Plenty of Food on Hand

A football party can quickly come to a halt if you run out of food. Always make sure you have plenty of food on hand when you are hosting a football party. Consider putting out a variety of food, including vegetables, chips, pretzels and sweets to ensure there is a variety of foods and plenty for everyone. Most party planners recommend having about a pound of food per person on hand and 1/2 pound per child.

Make Sure Your Guests Can Make it Home Safely

Lastly, if you plan on serving alcohol, make sure your guests have a way to make it home safely. Either designate a driver, or use a ride-sharing app if need be. Never let anyone drive home drunk after a party.

Hosting a great party starts with having a great party space. If you love to host events but don't have a space that is suited for it, then consider making Gramercy on the Park your next move. Folded ClothesDo you feel like you have nothing to wear even though your closet is literally overflowing with clothes? Well, you're probably not alone. It's likely that many of your friends also feel this way about their closets. You could, of course, just do a complete purge and go shopping for a new wardrobe. But that could be very costly. Or you could host a sip and swap party for your friends.

What is a Sip and Swap?

It's a fun gathering where you invite your besties over to trade clothing they no longer want while enjoying a drink or two. And it's actually a win-win for everyone involved. Party-goers can clean out their closets while adding new clothing to their wardrobe. Since this is an informal gathering, it's okay to invite people via email, an electronic party invitation service or by creating a Facebook group.

What to Serve

Remember, this is a "sip" and swap, so you'll want to make sure to offer plenty of beverages to sip on, including wine, beer, sodas, and water. You may also want to offer a few appetizers, or ask your guests to each bring a snack to share.

Set Rules

To ensure that your party runs smoothly, you will need to set some basic rules, such as:

  • All items must be clean.
  • Clothing must be in good shape. There should be no rips, stains, broken zippers or missing buttons.
  • Each person should bring a minimum number of items to the party. You don't want a person showing up with one item and then helping themselves to several articles of clothing.

You will also need to decide how you want to deal with any leftover items of clothing. Some hosts will ask the party attendees to take their unwanted items back home. Another option is to tell attendees that any unwanted items will be donated to a favorite charity.

If your closet still feels cramped after your sip and swap party, it might be time to upgrade to our apartments in Dallas, TX, that boast large walk-in closets. Our community also has a resort-style swimming pool, a package concierge, and an outdoor lounge area. Give us a call or stop by our office to learn more about our apartment community!
